Association of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) Gene Polymorphisms With Gastric Cancer and Its Development, Prognosis, and Survival

چکیده
The relationship between vascular endothelial growth factor gene polymorphism and gastric cancer risk and its development, prognosis, and survival are still being debated. This meta-analysis was performed to assess these relationships. The association reports were identified from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and CBM-disc (China Biological Medicine Database), and eligible studies were included and calculated using the meta-analysis method. VEGF+936C/T, VEGF+405 G>C, VEGF-460 T>C, VEGF-1498 T>C, and VEGF-2578 C>A gene polymorphisms were found to be unassociated with gastric cancer risk for the overall population in this meta-analysis, whereas the VEGF-634 G>C GG genotype was associated with gastric cancer risk in the overall population. Furthermore, VEGF-634 G>C C allele and the GG genotype were associated with gastric cancer risk in Caucasians, and VEGF+1612G/A gene polymorphism was associated with gastric cancer risk for the Asian population. VEGF+936C/T gene polymorphism was not associated with the stage of cancer, lymph node metastasis, Lauren classification, or survival of gastric cancer. However, VEGF+936C/T T allele and TT genotype were associated with the tumor size of gastric cancer. In conclusion, the VEGF-634 G>C GG genotype was associated with gastric cancer risk in the overall population with the VEGF-634 G>C C allele and GG genotype being associated with risk in Caucasians and VEGF+1612G/A in the Asian population.

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Production is Regulated by Gene Polymorphisms
Background: Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has a key role in angiogene-sis and in transplantation. The level of VEGF is related to the differences in the DNA sequence of its promoter region. Objectives: In this study, the association between the combination of VEGF –1154 G and –2578 C alleles and VEGF production by LPS-stimulated PBMCs was investigated. In addition; the relationship ...
متن کاملThe Influence of Immunosuppressive Drugs on Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Production in Relation to VEGF - 1154 G and -2578 C Genotypes
Background: The pathogenesis of many diseases is correlated to irregularity in vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression. Results from several association studies show that variation in the level of VEGF expression is related to polymorphic sequences within the VEGF gene. Additionally, there are many studies showing that some gene polymorphisms significantly influence the pharmacokin...
متن کاملP-126: VEGFA Gene Polymorphisms and Its Association with Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion
Background Spontaneous abortion has been defined as two or more consecutive miscarriages at 20 weeks pregnancy. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays a main role in fetal and placental angiogenesis which secretes from different cells like endometrium and placenta. The objective of this study was to investigate of association of VEGFA gene polymorphisms and recurrent spontaneous abortio...
متن کاملExpression of midkine and vascular endothelial growth factor in gastric cancer and the association of high levels with poor prognosis and survival.
The aim of the present study was to investigate the expression of midkine (MK) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in gastric cancer and its relationship with gastric cancer prognosis and survival rate. We recruited 107 patients with complete clinical data and available tissue samples [gastric cancer tissue (n=107); adjacent normal gastric mucosa (n=31)]. MK and VEGF expression in the...
متن کاملAssociation between the Functional Polymorphism of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Gene and Breast Cancer: A Meta-Analysis
The vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene single-nucleotide polymorphism involved in the regulation of the protein levels has been implicated in breast cancer. However, the published studies have produced contentious and controversial results. Herein, we performed a meta-analysis (from January to October 2013); to further evaluate the association between +936 C/T polymorphism and the r...
